Challenge 1 (week 1): 100 meters driving
The performance:

  • Measure 100 meters (e.g. on an athletic track, using hectometer poles on a bike path, or in a quiet street – a kerb/pavement tyre is 1m)
  • Drive the 100 meters – maximum wheel size 24 inches (or 26×1 for the connoisseurs)
  • This involves the exercise and improving your own time, not necessarily that you become the fastest one-who teacher in the Netherlands and Belg

  • We drive together 'virtually' a long distance. Everyone unicycles at their own moment, in their own environment. We add it all up to see how far we get together.
  • In the Corona challenge (in May) we have already arrived in Brussels. Now we drive to Grenoble (World Championships Unicycles, even though they are cancelled), and then back via Brussels to Amsterdam
  • Total distance 1811 kilometers!
  • It's not a competition. Everyone contributes their bit to drive the whole distance together
  • You can join as many times as you like
  • Daily mode is tracked on facebook
  • The challenge stops when the total distance has been covered, or on Sunday, August

Corona challenge: who is first in Brussels?

A virtual relay of the men against the women: who is first?

This year's biggest unicycle races (NKE and Unicon) have dropped out, and perhaps that gives you less motivation to go unicycle. Your youth circus or unicycle club is also likely to be closed.
But hey: outside unicycles, or somewhere inside on your own, you can still!

We offer an alternative: a virtual relay from Amsterdam to Brussels, so the capitals of the two countries we focus on. By "virtual" we mean: everyone drives on their own and in their own environment. We add up the distances as if you were driving a piece from Amsterdam to Brussels. The distance
is 222 km according to Google Maps (over bike paths). As you can see from the picture, we have built a special two-lane fast bike path – even at the border between the Netherlands and Belgium you can continu
e. The start is on Saturday 9 May at 10 am, so the moment when the NK Unicycles would be open. The total distances driven by men and women are kept daily on our website, with the names of the participants (but no distance per person). Every meter counts, and you can participate every day! There are no prizes to be won. 🙁

How can you participate? Send an email to in which you put the following
:1. Your name (If you don't want your name on the website, please add it, you will be listed as "Anonymous".)
2. Whether you're a man or a woma
n3. The distance you uni-cycled on that day (other day? please mention the date)
4. How you measured or estimated your dista
nce. More details are not needed, but it is nice for us to read.

NK Unicycles don't happen

With pain in our hearts, we made the difficult decision today not to allow the Dutch Unicycling Championship to go ahead on 9 May 2020.

We are very sorry, but we still think this is the most sensible choice, given the corona crisis. We do not think it is justified to organise an event with so many participants under these circumstances, precisely at the epicenter of the outbreak. We hope for your understanding of this difficul

t choice. We will refund the registration fee in full to all registered participants, in the bank account from whi

ch it was paid. We are currently looking at ways to keep the NKE in the summer or autumn, if by then the situation has clearly improved. We hope that we can all come together safely to enjoy the unicycle and enjoy each other. If there is more
known about this, you will of course read it in Unicycle News, and on the website
